Cape Cod Towns' Legislative Efforts to Reduce the Risk of Living Downwind of the Pilgrim Nuclear Reactor - 2003
The law was passed in Dec. '02 - where's our KI?

'Ballot Question' means a measure to provide radiological emergency planning (accident notification; written directions for appropriate safety measures; calling for moving irradiated fuel to dry cask storage; identification of radiological shelters) is on the ballot. For an outline of commonsense radiological emergency planning, see the Be prepared pdf handout. Sheltering livestock feed is not enough.

'Article Passed' means that the town's governing body voted to accept KI from the state as provided by Chapter 425 of MGL 2002. See sample town meeting articles to accept KI from the state.

Please send corrections and notification of omissions to info@capedownwinders.com.
Information regarding similar efforts on the Islands or Cape Ann would also be appreciated.

* At the 2/27/03 Barnstable Town Council Meeting, it was agreed (2003-050 Resolve) to CONSIDER KI acceptance at a later date. The town manager was directed to develop AND DISTRIBUTE educational materials about KI, and also to formulate an implementation plan. The BOH informed me (on 8/11/03) that Director McKean has requested the KI from MDPH.

** Passed at Special Town Meeting March 3, 2003.
